The design of the Mobil Pendant Light, by Monika Mulder for Pholc, began with this challenge: Give me a lamp that will look great in a New York loft! Using metal tubes and globes of opal glass, Mulder thought of the typical New York balcony railings in black metal and the round streetlights on the Brooklyn Bridge. Working with these ingredients, the fixture came to life, she notes.
