In his purist approach to architecture and design, Eero Saarinen sought the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. One of the most exemplary examples of which is the one-legged design of his Pedestal Collection, which includes a side table, coffee table, and dining table. These effortlessly majestic pieces came from his desire to eliminate the confusion caused by the slum of legs underneath typical chairs and tables. Saarinen Tables have since become symbols of mid-century modern design and mainstays of the Knoll design legacy.
